Getting to The Gutter Bar is part of the experience.

Located in Kooringal on the southern end of Moreton Island, you can get here by 4WD, boat, jet ski, selected tours, or by helicopter.

Before you make your way here, always check tide times, weather conditions, and access routes.

Getting Here by 4WD with MICAT

If you are travelling to Moreton Island with a 4WD, you will need to book the MICAT (Moreton Island Adventures) barge.

From the MICAT drop-off point, the drive to Kooringal usually takes around 50 minutes, depending on tides, sand conditions and your chosen route.

You can access The Gutter Bar via Middle Road and Eastern Beach, or via the Tangalooma Bypass and Western Beach.

Tides matter. Anything above a 1.5m tide on Western Beach may mean driving through water, so please check tide times before you travel.

Located near Days Gutter, Kooringal is known as a sheltered anchorage and is popular with boaties.
